Deaf School = Lifeguards

Today was the final day of a Lifeguard (NPLQ) course at Mary Hare School. Although I am always delighted when all the candidates pass, it is especially rewarding when candidates at this school pass. When I started teaching at the school 3 years ago, I was telling people about running the course and some people were telling me I shouldn’t. This is because the students at this school are deaf. Although I was nervous, I knew that deaf students should have the chance to gain the qualification and every year they have proved me right. 7 newly qualified lifeguards came out of today all passing with flying colours. Although they gave me the bag of Heroes, it should be them recognised as heroes for becoming fully qualified Lifeguards. Well done to all involved. I will see you at training in January
