Starting 2018 off right
2017 was a big year for Sweet Training. We started our first ever course in January 2017 and it was a great year. We delivered many different types of courses in our first full calendar year and 2018 aims to be even bigger.
Blogs from 2017 were done sporadically about 1 course. This year we are aiming to launch weekly blogs about what we have been up to during that week. So here we go, week commencing 8th Jan.
On Monday 8th, Ben delivered Monthly Lifeguard Competency Training (As per HSG179 Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools) to David Lloyd Peterborough based out of Thorpe Wood. During the new year, Sweet Training purchased QCPR manikins which allow trainers and candidates to measure the quality of the CPR they do on the training manikins. Ben is running a challenge this month to all the David Lloyd clubs where he completes training, that the best person throughout the month will win a prize. We look forward to seeing the final results and off to a strong start is Dominic scoring 92%. There was some good encouragement from all the staff as everyone took to the challenge.
On Tuesday 9th, Ben delivered Monthly Lifeguard Competency Training at Swambourne House School on behalf of Swimbag Ltd. Ben has been working this contract now since September 2017. Swambourne is a Prep School in Milton Keynes which allows external users to partake in swimming lessons with the schools swimming teachers. As a result, lifeguards should be provided as per regulations. The fact that Swambourne takes pride in safety and shows that safety is important to them is a great step towards insuring that accidents are prevented, especially considering it is a swimming pool environment.
On Friday 12th, Ben was invited to help deliver an Emergency First Aid at Work Course at the Homebase Distribution Centre in Swindon. This was a fantastic opportunity to deliver a safety course to a national company and showcase Sweet Trainings teaching ability. Ben was initially invited due to their being a large amount of candidates booked on, but after showcasing his teaching ability and ability to engage candidates in a course he assisted the delivery with the trainer who invited him and all the candidates successfully passed the course which was enjoyed by all.
On Saturday 13th, Ben delivered a Day 1 of a Paediatric First Aid Qualification on behalf of Tigerlily Training at the Holiday Inn at Guildford. This was a course open to any candidates who require it for their job. There were 12 candidates in total and their jobs ranged from self-employed Nannies and Child-minders to Nursery workers, Pre-school staff and teaching assistants. It is a great day because it is a practical training session which allows all the candidates to get involved which all of them did and were able to gain new knowledge as well as demonstrate knowledge they already had from previous courses. We are pleased to say that all the candidates successfully completed the practical day and now have the e-learning modules to complete. We wish them the best of luck in the future.
That's all for this week, coming next week, Ben is delivering an RLSS Emergency Response Course in Southampton, delivering monthly competency training in Poole, Southampton and Bracknell and then another Practical Paediatric Course in Guildford.
