Lifeguard and First at Virgin Active

Ensuring customer safety should be a pivotal part of any business who opens themselves up to non-members of staff, especially when it comes to the Health and Fitness industry, but not only do employers need to protect non-staff members, they need to protect staff members. This means that anyone who lifeguards a swimming pool must hold a current and up to date lifeguard qualification.

This is what I was doing at Virgin Active West London in Acton this week, delivering a Lifeguard and First Aid course for 8 candidates so that they can learn how to protect their members but also how they can better protect themselves and prevent accidents from happening in the first place.

A lifeguard course is a long and straining week on the mind and body, especially when a Level 3 First Aid at Work qualification is added into the mix. Even with all that, I am please to say that all the candidates successfully passed, with excellent feedback from the external assessor, saying "Best group even seen!" which not only pleases the candidates but pleases myself as a trainer knowing they had been able to take in such a vast amount of information and retain it.

I wish all the candidates the best of luck for their careers in Virgin Active and beyond, and I hope to see them again soon.
