First Aid in Health and Fitness

On Monday 25th September, I visited the luxurious Chiswick Riverside Health and Racquets Club, a Virgin Active Collection. I was asked to return to a company I had previously worked for to deliver a First Aid Renewal Course. I had visited the club on previous occasions but have never taught there, it was a fantastic opportunity to deliver a course to one of the UKs largest Health Club providers and at their flagship site no less.

I had 9 candidates who had previously done First Aid at Work, and the majority of them were also Lifeguard qualified. When you are Lifeguard qualified, you must complete competency training once a month to keep your skills up to date. When it came to deliver the training, all the candidates were already extremely knowledgeable. This allowed us to explore different scenarios and examples and also allowed to us to go very in depth on certain medical conditions some of their members have and how best to deal with them on an individual basis.

It was a lot of fun and I did manage to see some familiar faces, but best of all, everyone managed to successfully renew their First Aid qualifications. I wish the best of luck to the candidates, and I hope they can use their new skills to provide the best duty of care to their members.
