Paediatric First Aid: Important for everyone

On Thursday 11th and Friday 12th May, I was at Virgin Active Hampshire in Botley delivering a First Aid Course for some Crèche workers from the club. Compared to some of the nurseries I have completed Paediatric First Aid Courses for, this crèche, wasn't even half the size, but still takes a large amount of children at peak times. It was therefore pleasing to see that they took the need for First Aid seriously and this showed in the candidates. Even in a much smaller environment the candidates could tell me about possible hazards which either have or could cause harm to children and we talked about how these could be prevented. This isn't in the curriculum as such (not in the amount of detail we went into anyway) but it was good to see that they were engaged in their work environment. Upon completing the practical assessment, I was pleased to see they passed their written assessment with flying colours. I wish all the candidates, and everyone at that club all the best, and a smooth transition as on 1st June it will become operated by David Lloyd Leisure.
